Monica has been serving the greater Raleigh, NC area as a certified dog trainer for more than 5 years.
Monica Henderson joined the Oak Heart Veterinary Hospital team in 2019 and has been serving Raleigh, NC, and the surrounding area for more than 5 years as a certified dog trainer. Monica earned her Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) certification through the CCPDT in 2017. She is also a Registered Veterinary Technician with twenty years of experience in veterinary medicine, experienced that has fostered a strong interest in animal behavior and the human-animal bond.
Her passion for her learners’ well-being goes far beyond teaching good manners and takes into consideration their emotional states, using a strong foundation in positive reinforcement. Monica graduated from the Karen Pryor Academy as a KPA-CTP in December 2019, completed the Certified Control Unleashed®️ Instructor program in November 2020, and is a Fear Free®️ Level 3 Certified Professional. Currently, she is working towards her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Behavior.
Monica is dedicated to being the communication liaison between you and your family pet! Monica offers group classes for puppies and adult dogs, and every dog in between. For pups that already have a solid training foundation, she offers tricks and introductions to the sports of Rally & Scent Work. If group classes aren’t your thing, Day Training is a popular and convenient drop-off program, fully customized to your specific goals. For families that want extra help starting a training plan, we offer a short-term board & train program. As a registered veterinary technician practicing in a full-service veterinary hospital, Monica also offers behavior consultations and behavior modification plans, working closely with her on-site veterinarians and local veterinary behaviorists.
